How to create secure passwords
A secure password protects your WordPress, cPanel, billing and email accounts from unauthorised access.
What makes a strong password
At least 12 characters, preferably longer.
A mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and symbols.
Not based on your name, business, pet, town or birthday.
Unique for every service.
Use a password manager
A password manager can create and store strong unique passwords so you do not have to remember them all.
Avoid password reuse
If you reuse a password and another website leaks it, attackers may try the same password on your WordPress or email account.
Change passwords after suspicious activity
If you think an account may have been accessed, change the password immediately and contact support.
Extra tips
Do not share passwords over normal email.
Remove old users who no longer need access.
Use different passwords for WordPress, email and billing.
Avoid saving passwords on shared computers.
Important notes
Weak passwords are one of the most common reasons websites and email accounts are compromised.
