How DNS propagation works
DNS propagation is the time it takes for DNS changes to update across internet providers and DNS caches around the world.
Why DNS is not always instant
Internet providers cache DNS information so websites load faster. When you change nameservers or DNS records, some networks may keep the old value for a while.
Typical propagation time
Some changes work within minutes.
Many changes settle within a few hours.
In some cases, full propagation can take up to 24 hours.
What you may see during propagation
Your website loads correctly on mobile data but not Wi-Fi.
One browser shows the new site while another shows the old one.
Email delivery may be inconsistent if MX records were changed.
DNS checker tools may show different results across locations.
What you should do
Wait for propagation to complete.
Avoid repeatedly changing DNS settings while waiting.
Clear browser cache if your site still shows the old version.
Try testing from mobile data as well as broadband.
What Host Luma can check
Host Luma support can check whether your domain is using the correct nameservers and whether key DNS records appear correct.
Important notes
Changing DNS repeatedly can make troubleshooting harder. Make one correct change, then allow time for it to update.
